Cross Stitch Car Seats
Thursday June 29, 2006
As I read an article from Forbes.com entitled "Most Popular Cars For Men And Women", the description of a prototype car designed by a team of women caught my eye. The author said the seats of the car were embroidered with Cross Stitch embellishments.
What an unusual use for Cross Stitch. And of course, I want that car. Unfortunately, it is only a prototype.
In the past, I was skeptical about stitching on items that would see actual use. After I spent my effort stitching, I wanted all my designs to be framed or made into a pillows or ornaments. When I stitched a design on a small towel with an Aida insert for my kitchen, I knew it would have to be laundered someday. When the towel became a little grungy from hanging in the kitchen, I put it in the wash - on the delicate cycle, in cold water with like colors, just to be safe. Of course, the towel escaped unscathed and looked just as good as new after it dried.
Have you seen Cross Stitch in an unusual place? Have you created an unusual Cross Stitch project? Tell us about it in the comment section below or in the Cross Stitch Forum.
