Holiday Ideas - Day Twenty-Two - Add Paint to Back Stitch Ornaments

Saturday December 22, 2007
One of the recent trends in Cross Stitch that I like is using stamping and painting to embellish cross stitch and back stitch motifs. Leisure Arts has several leaflets with this theme in mind, and I have designed several free patterns which would be useful for trying this technique. Water color, glitter paint, fabric markers, acrylics - almost any sort of paint that may be used on fabric is suitable for this type of project.

This technique seems to be a perfect fit for creating unique and personalized ornaments. Start small with the simple back stitch ornament design. Then graduate to some larger back stitch motifs. This might be a great way to get the kids involved in a crafty project.
