Cross Stitch Tips for Left-Handed Stitchers
Friday April 25, 2008
I have received several emails lately from left-handed stitchers asking for help. About.com Cross Stitch Forum Members contributed to a collection of Tips for Left-Handed Stitchers a while back, so I wanted to remind all you "lefties" out there about this article.
I stitch with both hands, but the callous on my right stitching finger is a dead give-away to my right hand dominance - it is way bigger than the one on the left finger. I tend to use my left hand to hold the hoop unless my right hand needs a break or I am using a frame and stand to stitch.
My tutorials are geared toward right-handed stitchers, but are easily adapted for use by left-handed stitchers. The majority of the left-handed stitchers in the forum indicated that they stitch pretty much the same way right-handed stitchers do. But, if you are extremely left-hand dominant and you have tips for modifying your stitching procedures, please share them with us.
So, which hand do you stitch with? Vote in the poll and let us know.

i use my right hand on the top of my project and my left hand under the hoop to guide my needle to the next hole for stitching, as well as to push the needle threw the material. then grab with the right hand pull thread completely through and start with the next hole back to the left hand.
