Free Candlewicking Patterns - Three New Borders
Thursday July 10, 2008
Candlewicking has always been one of my favorite embroidery styles. I know some of you are fans too, so I added some more free patterns to the collection available from About.com Cross Stitch.
New Patterns Include:
Candlewicking Border One
Candlewicking Border Two
Candlewicking Border Three
I obviously didn't tax my creativity to name these patterns, but there's a diamond one, a swirly one, and a roundish one. Just go check them out!

I like candlewicking, too, and I think the swirly border is my favorite.
I like the swirly border too, Rain. It reminds me of waves in the ocean, which brings back wonderful memories. I’d be tempted to use that pattern in white-on-white for a pillow case border.
I’ll put in a vote for the swirly one as well. Thanks for the patterns and keep up the great work.
I like the diamond pattern. It would be great for a more masculine pillow case, or for a table runner.
Thanks for the patterns!
You ought to have made this a poll
I looked at your gallery – It’s really unique looking and i had to check it out. I came back to post and saw evry one talking about swirly so I had to look again. Yup I like Swirly too!
Maybe I will make it a poll
As for my personal preference, I would have to go with the diamond-y one. After all they are a girl’s best friend, right?
Swirly for me too. But I also like the alphabet.
My vote goes to the swirly squares! Very cool, and very, um, meditative?
The swirly border is nice too. It does look like waves.
Oh, wow! I love these patterns. I wonder if these would look good on a quilt?
The great thing about Candlewicking is that you can enlarge or reduce the patterns and use more or fewer strands of floss to fit whatever project you want. I think these borders would be great around the edge of a quilt or around individual squares.
