Free Beachy Cross Stitch Patterns

Thursday July 24, 2008
I just spent a long weekend at the beach with my family. We had a great time. I love walking on the beach early in the morning and at sunset. The sounds of the surf and the smells (well, most of them) are intoxicating. I wouldn't want to deal with sand all the time, but it sure is a nice place to visit.

There are several free patterns at About.com Cross Stitch with an Ocean or nautical theme. Stitch them to commemorate your visit to the beach or to decorate your beach-themed powder room or guest room. Stitch the bookmark for someone who is going on a trip to the beach and gift it with a few books.

Being a book person, I LOVE the beach read bookmark idea. I’m like you, I find the beach wonderfully calming, and after a nice, long walk along the shore, there isn’t much I’d rather do than sit and read a book while listening to the surf. Throw in a cocktail and I’m in heaven!

I love the ocean waves pattern! It would make a great framed decoration in my master bath.

Ooh, beach read it is for me, too! Considering I live on an island, its the perfect quick project.

How about stuff you find on the beach — candy wrappers, coins, beach glass?

I love the bookmark also. I haven’t done cross-stitch in ages, but this might be just the project to get me going again!
