Stitch a Startling Skull
Tuesday October 7, 2008
I have been working on ornaments for my Halloween tree. I won't have enough this year, but I have a good start and I will have plenty for next year!
For one ornament, I decided to stitch the small skull from the free Small Skull and Cross Bones pattern. I used one strand of white Anchor Floss and I grabbed a spool of white blending filament out of the plastic shoe box filled with my collection of Kreinik flosses and filaments.
I had the perfect setup for stitching on black fabric - good light and a sheet of white paper in my lap, so I was really making progress on my project.
I was walking by my stitching space later that night, much later - there were no lights on. And, I saw an eerie glow and an image that startled me until I realized I had grabbed the glow-in-the-dark blending filament! It gives the skull a creepy appearance. I am definitely going to add it to more of my ornaments for this project.
