Poll - How Often Do You Stitch?
Monday November 3, 2008
I stitch every day. Even if it is for just a few moments. This summer I had to take a break from stitching for a month. (I injured my finger and it needed time to heal.) It drove me crazy! I missed stitching so much.
When I was able to pick my needle back up, I spent an entire weekend stitching! I have moderated my stitching time a bit since then, but I am still making up for lost time.
How often do you stitch? Vote in the poll and let us know. Tell us about it using the Comments section below.

I don’t stitch as often as I would like. I have started on a project that was to be a retirement gift - the person has retired and the gift is still in progress; but once I get started stitching, I am usually at it ALL NIGHT non stop, and no sleep.
I stitch while I’m watching tv in the evening. Most of what is on doesn’t take all of my attention and with the new cable format, if I need to focus on counting stitches or a particular section of the design needs a little more direct attention, I can always pause the show I’m watching for those few minutes.
After a hectic day at the office, it’s great to lose myself in my current project(s)!
I haven’t cross stitched in several years but recently I picked it up again. I’m working on a small project and am enjoying every minute of it. Unfortunately I only get to cross stitch on the weekends but am looking forward to picking up the piece and working some more.
Stitching is one of only two things I do for me and me alone. The other is reading. Between working full time, commuting, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, paying bills, and taking care of my husband and son, I have next to no free time for either. (Yes, I know they SHOULD help!) I’m delighted if I can get a solid hour per day to stitch but that rarely occurs. Stitching really helps resolve stress, depression and anxiety. I get such a sense of accomplishment when I finish a piece. I need much more of it.
I pick up cross stiching by chance after our local stationery brought a few for sale and like one of these pictures. I was so trill with the result that I never stop since then. That was November 2006. Through Cross Stitch I discover many friends. I love to stich every free minute I have and try to stich every day as I cannot wait to see how my stitching will look like. I tell myself even just a line is a progress. This helps me disstuck myself from my work and forget my problems and dissapointment of the day. In Winter I stitch much more often since Malta it can get too hot in the evenings to stay in and stitch. These site have made me discover a lot of websites selling cross stitch and I have brought quite a few. Thanks Connie also for answering my enquries when I have some so prompty.
I try to do something crafty every night. It relaxes me and I feel so creative when I am doing something. I switch from crocheting to stitching to sewing to crocheting to stitching, etc. I am currently working a stitching project for my husband and I am a little frustrated with it so I am currently corcheting. I hope to get the stitching project done for Christmas, framed and all. Wish me luck!
Connie, as you know I have not been able to stitch for over a year! This has led to frustration and irritation! I am still not able to stitch due to outdoor activities and so forth, its really not fun to live where the winter is so long, and summer is so short! However I clicked on other in the poll, my previous stitching was every day, but having such a long break in my time, I don’t know how or when I will get back to it,and how much time I will be able to devote to it. But am hoping for at least half an hour every day, and longer if I can! I have way to many projects to do!
i stitch daily for few hours as this is my favourate hobby.i can’t do with out this.i start different things and worked accordingly.
I was surprised to find others here say that CS is a “stress reliever” to them also. I love to lose myself in stitching. I do most of my stitching when I can find a quite place at lunchtime at work, or early in the morning when no one else is awake.
