I have written about my dad several times in this blog - he was very important catalyst in my drive to craft. He was rather crafty himself. He did a lot of wood-working, but he also enjoyed working with fiber-related crafts such as weaving and string-art. His mom did all sorts of needlework and quilting and she encouraged her boys to learn to crochet and sew. My dad never admitted knowing crochet, but I have a potholder one of his older brothers made that I treasure.

My dad died in 1989, after a long struggle with illness. Even though it has been a long time since he passed, I think of him often. There are so many happy memories tangled in with the bitter-sweetness caused by his long illness.

I have several things he made that remind me of him, but I wanted to create a stitched memorial as well. I have been looking for a poem or saying that would be appropriate and I found this one last year. The group I often sing with, Three Rivers Singers, did a piece based on the poem, Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep.

I noticed that the poem was attributed to anonymous, so I decided to chart it for my memorial. I thought I would share the free Do Not Weep Pattern Collection with you all. One constant about life is that we have to say good-bye to friends and family members. But, our memories remain and a stitched memorial is a way to symbolize them in a subtle way.
