Outlined Diamond Eyelet Stitch
Thursday December 18, 2008
Cross Stitchers often use specialty stitches borrowed from other embroidery styles to embellish Cross Stitch designs. One of my favorite counted thread embroidery stitches is the Outlined Diamond Eyelet Stitch.
When stitched on Aida fabric, as shown in the image at right, a tiny circle is created in the center of the stitch. For a larger circle and a more dramatic effect, stitch on linen or other evenweave fabrics.

This stitch is so pretty that you could repeat it and create small ornament or gift tag motifs. Learn a new stitch and create something functional for the Holidays!
