Input Wanted

Tuesday December 30, 2008
I am making 2009 plans for About.com Cross Stitch and I wanted to give you an opportunity to have some input. What sorts of things would you like to see in the coming year? Vote in the poll and let us know.

I know that free Cross Stitch patterns is pretty much a given, and I will be doing a poll later on about what type of patterns you are interested in, but you can also leave comments to give me ideas if you like.

Possibly larger patterns with a combination of stitches. The smaller ones are great for small projects or for samplers. I would like to see some more challenging patterns. I enjoy your column very much. Thank You and wishing you best stitches, Gammielinda

More difficult patterns. Present ones are only for beginners.

(3) Margaret says:

Ditto. I find that most “free” patterns are too simple for me. I desire more challenging patterns and so I have looked for patterns in old magazines, on websites and from designers themselves. Many times, they offer a free pattern that I like. A visit to the Gloria and Pat website is an example, a lot of free patterns I liked.

How about some more Southwest or Western designs!

I would like more challenging patterns. Most of the patterns given are very simple.

(7) Bree says:

How about finishing techniques? I have a hard time finishing projects. Besides the basic “get it framed” finishing, perhaps show other ways of finishing. Step-by-step instructions on finishing would be awesome!

(8) Oliviaharry says:

I agree with the others that we need more sophisticated and challenging patterns. Also, more finishing techniques, Christmas stockings, pillows, tote bags….

(9) Connie G. Thomas says:

The focus of the free patterns at About.com will always be on beginners, but I will add some more complicated patterns this year after all these requests.

I have plans to add more finishing directions too.

I guess I am like everyone else, I would like to see more challenging patterns as well.
I realize their are those who still have to learn cross stitch but then there are us who already know how…
I didn’t realize your site was mainly targeted toward the beginner…
Whatever though, I think you do a great job, so keep up the good work… I will look forward to new and old patterns as they come about…
Thanks
