Band Sampler Bookmark
Sunday February 8, 2009
The free Band Sampler Bookmark is one of the latest designs added to About.com Cross Stitch. If you like to learn new stitches, this project is perfect for you.
There are about fourteen different stitches used in the design from simple cross stitch and back stitch to more complicated stitched like boss stitch and rice stitch. The pattern includes links to tutorials for each stitch.
The design fits perfectly on an 18-count Ribband Bookmark form or you may choose to follow the instructions in How to Make an Easy Aida Bookmark and use any count fabric you like.
I used red, green, and blue to stitch my bookmark, but you can choose any color floss you desire - use a single colors or even a different color for each band of the sampler for a colorful display of your skills.
Note: Since several stitchers had difficulty printing this pattern, I added a printable pdf version of the Band Sampler Bookmark chart. Refer to the Band Sampler Bookmark Numerical Key for stitching instructions and the link to the pdf chart.

Hi Connie, love the bookmark and have gotten it to stitch. Must say, that I really am not enthused with the gallery, I find it awkward to navigate and frustrating to try and print from. Not to mention the fact that the advertising on it is a pain in the butt, having to click on continue gallery all the time.Today I couldn’t get the view full sized pictures to work.
Sorry you had problems – I will see about putting up a .pdf of the file next week to make it easier to print. I know the ads are a pain, believe me, but they are what pay the bills around here making it possible for me to offer free patterns! (And I have no control over them, believe me).
I am glad you like the bookmark – It is one of my favorite projects so far.
Bookmarks are my favorite projects to stitch and to design! I love playing around with different textures and layouts when I make bookmarks. Thank you for the great freebie
