My Grandmother Garmon was a quilter. Her frames were up most of the time. She had fabric hoarded up like gold. She could take the most miserable fabric (like double-knit polyester) and make beautiful things with it. I remember being amazed at how quickly she could cut out a batch of pieces.
The free Grandmother's Quilt pattern was created out of those memories. The border for the saying was modeled after the Snail's Trail Quilt Block.
This pattern will be easy to personalize - change Grandmother to Mother or even Aunt Whomever. Or, Grandpa may be the quilter. My Grandaddy Stager learned to quilt as a young boy and after he retired he used to help my other Grandmother in her quilting sometimes. It was sweet to see them bent over the quilt, sewing (and not doing quite as much bickering as they usually did.)
There are two additional patterns in this collection. I have included a miniature Snail's Trail quilt pattern and a small Snail's Trail border motif.
