Free Satin Heart Hardanger Pattern
Tuesday July 21, 2009
I could never be accused of being a "girly" girl. Not that there's anything wrong with being girly. My favorite outfits are black. I don't like lace. I would rather wear tennis shoes than shoes with high heels. In fact, I made a pact with myself when I turned 35 that I would never wear them again. Flats for me from then on, sister. I hate to dress up - I am sure you get the point. But, when it comes to Cross Stitch, I find that I often gravitate toward pinks and purples when I am selecting flosses for fun projects.
The free Satin Heart Hardanger pattern model is one example of my penchant for pinks and lavenders. One part of my floss is quite organized. Then there is the bag of floss that has never quite made it onto bobbins. Sometimes, when my supplies are out of control and I am in a hurry, instead of going for the boxes and boxes of DMC floss I have, I snatch some skeins out of the "overflow" bag and whip up a project.
That was exactly what happened with this project - I just grabbed two colors that went together and started stitching. You can choose the floss colors you like - pink and lavender like me - or maybe you want to stitch it in colors that show your support for your favorite team. Whatever colors you choose, this project will give you the opportunity to practice satin stitch in two forms - the kloster block and the sideways square stitch.
