Cross Stitch on Facebook

By , About.com GuideAugust 25, 2009

Follow me on:

I initially resisted joining Facebook. I didn't need another distraction, did I? After hearing a few friends rave about it, I took the plunge. Boy, am I glad I did. I have been able to catch up with so many friends from high school and college that I'd lost track of over the years. (I am still amazed at how OLD so many have gotten.)

Another great thing about Facebook is that it is a way for me to find new Cross Stitch designers, groups, stores and so on. Here's a list of a few I have discovered. Share links to your favorites in the comments section below.

Cross Stitch on Facebook:
  • Heart of Cross Stitch
Keep up with the latest goings on at Jannlyn and enter in on the frequent contests.
  • Inspired Needle
This is a shop in Illinois - if you live nearby, you can keep up with all the classes they offer. If like me, you don't - well, they share lots of pretty pics of new stitcheries.
  • Mr. XStitch
Mr. XStitch and his cohort Beefranck share loads of interesting embroideries and stitcheries. (Just so you know, if it's marked NSFW, don't check it out if you are easily offended.)
  • Subversive Cross Stitch
Official page for Julie Jackson, Queen of Subversive Cross Stitch. If you haven't discovered her designs, you should check it out. Once again, not for the faint-hearted.
  • The Wild Animus
Purveyor of Cross Stitch, bags, and pouches on Etsy and all-around fun person.
Like I say, these are just a few of the many Cross Stitch related pages or groups on Facebook that I find interesting. If you have a group or page related to Cross Stitch, share it below in the comments.

I would be remiss if I did not also point out that you can become a fan of About.com Cross Stitch on Facebook too. It's just another way to keep up with the latest happenings here - and a way to get sneak peeks of new free patterns.

I’m fairly new to FaceBook. Friends and family encouraged me to join. It’s so easy to keep up with everyone since comments are brief. I had no idea there were “groups.” I’ll check it out.

I am not a fan of facebook yet although sometimes I do get people bugging me to join. When I read your post today about cross stitch groups, other stitching sites, and stitching ‘friends’ that you could access all at one place I was intrigued. I will bookmark this post of yours and if I join in the future, It will be a huge help to me.
Thanks so much :)
