Holly sent in this close-up photo of her Hummingbird and Cactus Project. She stitched it from a kit, so we aren't sure who the designer is. If you know, post it below so I can add the information. Learn more about this photo.

What talented people I meet on Wordless Wednesday! This is a beautiful piece, Holly. I like the subtle shading.

I love the warm colors overall. The shading in the background – is that dyed fabric then or are there half stitches to make the color changes? So soothing to look at this picture.

It makes a beautiful picture. I especially like the cactus spines.

That is perfectly lovely. I particularly like the hummingbird. It would look fabulous in a frame on the wall.

Oh that is absolutely beautiful! Cross stitch seems so versatile, I really like this application, looks very time consuming though!

Thank you all for your lovely compliments.

Hi Irene. Those are half stitches. The fabric is actually white, which didn’t come through too well because the flash kept bouncing off the glass, so I had to turn it off.

Unfortunately, the patter was pretty much in tatters by the time I was finished with this project. It was printed on 11 x 14 paper, and was 2-sided, which made it a little hard to handle. Over the 8 months it took me to complete the pattern was shredded and folded at the edges and torn where it was folded. It was in too bad of shape to try to scan in, which I really wanted to do, and I forgot to make note of the designer and actual name of the pattern/kit. I bought the kit about 10 years ago, and it sat in my stash until last year sometime when my son cleaned out my garage and I discovered it again.
