Free Cross Stitch Doily Collection

My Grandmother Stager tried her best to teach me how to crochet, but I never quite got the hang of it, at least not nearly to her skill level. I particularly liked the doilies she stitched with small crochet thread. Since I can't crochet doilies myself, I decided to design some stitched ones instead.

The free Cross Stitch Doily Collection is the result of my design efforts. I decided to go with red, white, and black for my doilies, instead of the shades of white, cream and blue or pink my Grandmother often used. You may change the color selections as you like. The potential color combos are limited only to your collection of flosses.

There are five doilies in the collection. (The one shown here is number four.) Each one will be five inches square on 11-count Aida or stitched over two on 22-count Hardanger fabrics. Of course, you will want to cut your fabric slightly larger to ensure room to finish your project by framing or however else you like.

As always, if you stitch these designs, we'd love to see photos of them. View and Share Photos.

That’s really creative, Connie!

Would you laugh at me if I told you I’d like to make one and add a crocheted edging around the outside of it? :D
