I have written before about my love of science fiction - books, TV shows, movies - any media. One of my favorites is Stargate SG-1. I love the twist the show gives to Egyptology. Ra isn't a god - he's a Goa'uld, a symbiont living inside a human host. We run into many of the other Egyptian "gods" as the storyline proceeds.
It's so cool to see the beings from Egyptian pyramid walls walking around. And, to find out that they traveled through the Stargate to other worlds. (Not so cool to know that they want to enslave all humans.)
Since the Stargate is only imaginary, and I don't have a trip to Egypt planned anytime soon, I will have to content myself with stitching some of the free Egyptian-Themed Cross Stitch Patterns from here at About.com Cross Stitch. If I use metallic thread for some of the designs, they would be fit for a Goa'uld's sarcophagus. Or, for display in my living room.

Egyptian art seems to be becoming popular again. Thanks for the links!
We saw the King Tut exhibit with our son about 30 years ago. I’ve loved Egyptian design ever since. Thanks for the links!
I love SF and got into Stargate just two years ago. Watched all 10 seasons in short order. I have stitched a King Tut mask (just saw the exhibit about him in San Francisco, but sadly no mask–that remains in Cairo). So thank you for these patterns, which would go nicely as companions.
I can relate! I love Egyptian art, but there are no plans for any trips in my immediate – or long term – future.
