Kreinik Metallic Cord Thread

By Connie G. Barwick, About.com

Using Metallic Cording:

Kreinik Metallic Cord may be used for couching, outlining, or stitching half stitches or cross stitches. Cording is available in 55 yard (50 meter) snap spools.

Range of Colors:

There are about 25 colors of Kreinik Metallic Cord in both solid and variegated colors.

Characteristics of Metallic Cord:

Cord is good for couching and for creating details. When using for couching, match the color of the cord to the couched thread so that it is invisible. Or, choose a contrasting color for an interesting affect.

Tips for Usage:

Use short lengths of cording to avoid damage from abrasion and decrease knotting. Use a larger needle to help open the fabric more for the thread to pass through. Use slow, deliberate stitches and allow your needle to dangle frequently to allow the cording to untwist. This helps avoid tangling and knotting as well.
