An Arrowhead Stitch is an easy variation of the cross stitch. Comprised of two half stitches, it may be stitched in any direction and over one or over two threads or squares.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varies
Here's How:
- Begin the stitch with a waste knot if desired. Bring the threaded needle up from the back of the fabric at point 1.
- Bring the threaded needle down at point 2 to complete the first half stitch (shown here in black).
- Bring the needle up at point 3 to start the second half stitch.
- Bring the needle down at point 2 again to complete the second half stitch (shown here in red). You have stitched an Arrowhead stitch. Trim away the waste knot and secure the floss.
- To stitch a row of Arrowhead Stitches, repeat steps 1-4, positioning the stitches as directed on the pattern or in the direction desired if free stitching.
Tips:
- It is important to maintain constant tension when creating Arrowhead stitches. If you pull unevenly, the stitches will be warped or uneven.
