Add an interesting element to a design or border by learning how to stitch a couched long stitch.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varies
Here's How:
- Stitch a long stitch (indicated by black line).
- Stitch a cross stitch over the long stitch.
- Continue practicing the couched long stitch.
Tips:
- Use contrasting or coordinating colors to stitch the long stitch and the overlaid cross stitch for a slightly different look. This stitch may be positioned horizontally or diagonally as well.
- This technique may also be used to couch ribbon or specialty fibers.
- The length of the long stitch may be altered as desired. Stitch the cross stitch over one or over two as shown here.
