She decided to try to design her own chart. History of Kitty & Me Designs: The owner of the local needlecraft store was so impressed with Pamela's first design that she asked her to consider creating custom designs for individuals. This is how Kitty & Me Designs got its start, though she no longer does custom charts. The designer describes this experience: "While doing my custom designing, my head overflowed with ideas of my own. On a whim, I decided to submit one of my designs to a major publisher of counted cross stitch and was quite surprised when they called me with an offer to purchase this design." Dominant Themes in Kitty & Me Designs: Themes featured in Kitty & Me designs include nature, animals, birds, cats and holidays. A special favorite of the designer is creating patterns that include cats with Victorian style hats! Distinctive Qualities of Pamela Kellogg's Designs: Pamela's use of color and shading is what makes her designs distinctive. Her designs are quite detailed, but since she is aware that many stitchers don't care for fractional stitches, she uses mainly full cross stitch, back stitch and a few French knots to create her patterns. More About Kitty & Me Designs: Kitty & Me Designs offer several samplers and charity-related patterns on the Kitty & Me website which are delivered electronically for a small fee. Pamela Kellogg's work is also found in Cross Stitch magazines and kits based on her designs are offered by several manufacturers. Stitching Level Required: Designs are suitable for intermediate or advanced stitchers. (Beginning stitchers may be put off at the many color changes in the patterns.) Pamela Kellogg's Daily Needlework Blog: Pamela invites stitchers to read her needlework blog. She updates it daily and lists currently available magazine designs when released. More About Pamela Kellogg: Pamela shares information about her other needlework interests:
"Along with designing cross stitch, I also have a great love for Victorian Crazyquilting. This is the main focus of my blog although I do touch on cross stitch and other needlework techniques from time to time. There, I offer an occasional charted pattern, tutorials, sewing tips and other needlework related information. Readers of my blog follow the progress of my crazyquilting through daily photographs from start to finish. I offer some of my crazyquilt work along with crazyquilt kits and other embellishments in my online shop. I assemble most of my work into one of a kind purses and cellphone/MP3 Player pouches."
