It is important to keep tension even when creating an Outlined Diamond Eyelet Stitch.

  1. Begin the Outlined Diamond Eyelet Stitch by bringing the threaded needle up at point A and taking it down six squares of Aida below point A. This point will be the center of the stitch.
  2. Bring the needle up at point B and take it down through the center. Continue stitching sequentially as indicated on the diagram.
  3. Up at point C, down through the center.
  4. Up at point D, down through the center.
  5. Up at point E, down through the center.
  6. Up at point F, down through the center.
  7. Up at point G, down through the center.

If you are stitching on Aida fabric, pull the stitches tight to create a small hole in the center of the stitch. but not too tight or the floss will break. On other evenweave fabrics, a larger hole will be created in the center due to the nature of the fabric weave.
