I prefer the fringed-edge bookmark. Aida lends itself to creating a simple, easy fringe.
If you are concerned about the fabric raveling, use a small amount of fray preventative or stitch a line of back stitch or running stitch one square above the fringed edge with floss the same color as the fabric or the stitched design.
