Information you may want to include in your journal:

  • Project Name - If you lose the chart or want to share an image of the design at a later date, this is good information to have.

  • Designer / Source - As you stitch, you may notice that a particular designer becomes a favorite. Knowing the source of the design (book, chart, specific magazine) comes in handy if you want to let another stitcher know where you found the design.

  • Fabric - Include a small sample of the fabric with the count, color, and brand. If you want to stitch another project on the same fabric, you will already have the information at your fingertips.

  • Note the floss used and how many strands you used.

  • What prompted you to select the design? Keep notes about the intended recipient or use.

  • Note the start date and the completion date - if you work on many projects at once, you may lose track of how long you have been working on a project.

Other information you might want to add includes alterations and changes you made to the design, floss color substitutions, frustrations, stitches learned, and anything else you think important to record.
