Aristotle - Friendship Saying
I was introduced to Aristotle at a young age - I used to skim through my parent's old college textbooks. I didn't understand everything he wrote then, but at least I knew who he was when it came time to study philosophy in college.
I finished this design as a bookmark, but if you use a different fabric count, it would make a pretty framed design or wall-hanging.

Benjamin Franklin - A Penny Saved Sampler
Many wise and wonderful sayings are attributed to Benjamin Franklin. Writing in Poor Richard's Almanac, he often spoke in aphorisms. The sayings may have been common wisdom of the day, but he wrote them down in a witty way.

Benjamin Franklin - Early Bird Gets the Worm
Another saying attributed to Benjamin Franklin, done up as a primitive sampler. I also offer a variation on the saying that is more akin to my own feelings. The early bird may very well get the worm, but he's welcome to it!
Charles Dickens - Bah Humbug
Listening to a reading of A Christmas Carol is one of my holiday traditions. My favorite movie version is A Muppet Christmas Carol and this is one of my favorite sayings from the book. Even though I love getting ready for Christmas, I always have a moment when I want to say, "Bah, Humbug" to someone!Charles N. Barnard - Christmas Tree Saying Pattern
A very sweet saying about Christmas trees from author Charles N. Barnard that will be a great addition to your holiday decorations.
Clement C. Moore - Not a Creature Was Stirring
From The Night Before Christmas, which may or may not have been written by Clement C. Moore. There are so many images from the poem, but this is a favorite. It was a very quiet night indeed.Collette - Be Happy Saying
This quote from French author Collete reminds us that being happy is a choice we can make.
Frank Herbert - Knowledge Quote
Frank Herbert is the author of the Dune series. I have read many of his other books too. He writes great characters and draws you into a story in a way that doesn't let you go until long after you finish reading the book.
L. Frank Baum - There's No Place Like Home
Maybe the saying wasn't in the book, but the Wizard of Oz is a beloved movie that captured the spirit of the Oz books quite well. Except for the part where Oz was all a figment of Dorothy's fevered dreams. Anyone familiar with the other books about Oz knows that it is all too real.
Madeleine L'Engle - Hope Quote
Madeleine L'Engle is my favorite author. So, it's no surprise to anyone who knows me that there's a quote from her in this collection. She is the author of A Wrinkle in Time among many other books, fiction and non-fiction.
