Definition: Cross Stitch is done on blank evenweave fabric. The design is stitched using a Cross Stitch Pattern, a grid with symbols to indicate stitch type and placement.

The pattern key decodes the Cross Stitch Pattern by listing the colors or numbers the symbols represent, stitches used in the design, and the meaning of any other symbols on the pattern. Cross Stitch patterns are also referred to schemes, graphs, and charts.
