Definition: When employing a Needlework Frame, Cross Stitch fabric such as Aida fabric is attached to two rods or dowels. Two side holders are used to hold the rods or dowels. As the design is stitched, the fabric is rolled up or down as needed. Needlework frames are especially useful when stitching on linen. Some stitchers hold fabric taunt "in the hand" instead of using a embroidery hoop or frame.
