Learn how to stitch horizontal rows of cross stitches by following this diagram.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Varies
Here's How:
- Begin by bringing a threaded tapestry needle up at C. Stitch a row of four half stitches. As you stitch, secure the floss behind the stitches.
- When the row of half stitches is completed, the needle will be behind the fabric, having been drawn down at point a. Bring the threaded needle up at B.
- Stitch a second row of half stitches. These stitches will be formed by stitching from the top right hand corner of the Aida square to the lower left hand corner.
- After finishing the second row of half stitches, bring the needle up C and cross the bottom row of half stitches.
- To cross the top row of half stitches, bring the needle up at point B for a second time and cross the upper row of half stitches. The needle will be drawn from the lower right hand corner of the square to the upper left hand corner of the square.
- Secure the floss and the rows are complete.
Tips:
- If your floss becomes twisted, allow your needle and floss to dangle and untwist.
- Maintain constant tension for the best looking stitches.
