To stitch a column of cross stitch you will need the following supplies:
  • short length of six-strand embroidery floss
  • tapestry needle
  • Aida fabric
  • scissors
  • hoop, optional

When stitching a column of cross stitches, it is best to stitch each cross stitch individually. For this lesson, the column will be stitched from the top of the column downwards. You may want to begin the stitch with a waste knot.

Stitch the initial cross stitch by bringing the threaded needle up at point 1 and down at point 2. Bring the threaded needle up at point 3 and down at point 4 to complete the first cross stitch.
