Similar, But Not Exactly the Same

From Connie G. Barwick, About.com

Chenille needles are very similar to tapestry needles. The tip of the chenille needle is sharp, however, unlike the blunt tip of the tapestry needle.

Chenille Needles are very similar to tapestry needles and are sized the same. The size of the eye and the shape of the needle is almost identical.

The biggest difference between tapestry needles and chenille needles is that the tip of the chenille needle is much sharper than the tapestry needle.

Chenille needles are used for ribbon embroidery, but are also useful when doing Candlewicking and Ribbon Embroidery.

Chenille needles may also make stitching on waste canvas less difficult. Since waste canvas is used on non-evenweave fabric, the sharper needle makes stitching easier.
