When comparing the tapestry needle (on the right) and the hand embroidery needle (on the left), note the following differences:
  • The eye of the embroidery needle is smaller. It will not hold as many strands of floss as the tapestry needle.
  • The embroidery needle is thinner.
  • The tip of the tapestry needle is blunt, unlike the sharp tip of the embroidery needle.
Embroidery Needles are sometimes useful for Cross Stitchers. Use an embroidery needle when stitching a project with a lot of French Knots. The sharp needle will assist with securing the knots into the weave of the fabric, especially if you have difficulty with them slipping through to the back.
