Continue stitching back stitches. Take care to avoid dragging the floss ends from the cross stitches to the front of the fabric as shown in the image. Clip the ends of the embroidery floss to avoid entangling them when stitching back stitch around cross stitch. If the ends of the floss get pulled to the front, use the tip of the needle or your fingernail to help ease them to the back of the fabric where they belong.
