This image of the completed Black Cat and Moon Halloween Saying using FurTaStitch shows that all the effort that goes into stitching with a textured floss is worth the effort.

When selecting a first project for stitching with textured floss, look for one that has few fractional stitches and use the floss as an accent. Textured flosses are great for Santa beards, animal fur, and anywhere else you want a little pop of texture in a project.

Many of the free patterns at About.com Cross Stitch are simple enough for a first project.

Be sure to send in a photo of your effort for the About.com Stitcher's Photo Album. We all love to see what you have been up to!
