Cross Stitch Tools - Helpful Cross Stitch Tools, Gadgets, and Organizers

Enhance Your Stitching Experience

By Connie G. Barwick, About.com

I use many of these tools each time I stitch. And, the ones I don't have yet are high on my wish list.

LoRan/Dritz Magnet Board 8"x 10"

If you already have a magnetic ruler, then purchase the board individually.

Magazine Files

Some magazines and charts are a bit over-sized, so I can't use the book keepers and three ring binders to organize them. Sturdy magazine files are a great option for keeping these magazines and charts safely on the shelf without having to stack them, risking perpetual paper avalanches when you brush them as you reach for supplies.

Magnet Roll

If longer strips of magnet are desired, the product also comes in a handy roll.

Magnetic Strips

I adhere a strip to the inside of all my project boxes and floss storage containers so I have a place to park needles, especially when I am using more than one for a project.

The Pako Needle Organizer holds up to 50 threaded needles. A code card insert makes simple work of keeping the needles sorted and organized.

Petite tapestry needles are a recent addition to my stitching kit. The first time I used them, I was hooked. I particularly like to use them when I am stitching on linen.

Plastic Canvas

Plastic canvas is so great. I like to use it for magnets, bookmarks, and other Cross Stitch projects.

If you are looking for a functional and beautiful gift for a stitcher, consider the Puffin Craft Strand Separator. Avoid knots and tangles with this effective tool.

Ratchet Needlework Frame

I enjoy using the ratchet needlework frame, but some people really dislike them (see the comments section). I like the way the frame holds the fabric and I don't have to use tape, staples, or other contraptions to attach my fabric to the frame.

Snip-A-Stitch Scissors by Tool Tron make for quick work when removing misplaced stitches.
