DMC and Anchor six-strand embroidery floss each have hundreds of colors from which to choose. Many stitchers have at least one skein of each color in the floss system of their choice. I use DMC floss and my floss collection is stored in 12 large craft boxes (so far). Each box is labeled with a number and I organize the floss numerically so that the floss is easy to locate when I start a new Cross Stitch project.

I also use a large craft storage box for odds and ends of floss and snippets of floss. I organize the floss by color and when I am stitching an original design, I often choose floss at random to create an unique piece of Cross Stitch art.
