Prepare Cross Stitch Fabric Before Stitching

Quick and Inexpensive

Before beginning a Cross Stitch project, prepare the fabric.

First, cut off any selvage - see picture to prevent warped, misshaped stitches.

Then, bind the fabric edge with regular masking tape. Add an extra inch to the fabric, and you can cut off the taped edge when the project is complete. The tape keeps the fabric edges from raveling.
