Prior to inserting the fabric in the frame, prepare the edge of the fabric with a fray blocking agent, tape, or hemstitch. In addition, before placing the fabric in the frame, mark a straight line an inch to two inches from each fabric edge with a marker or pins. These lines will guide you when placing the fabric in the frame. It is imperative that the fabric is placed in the frame as straight as possible or the frame will not be square.
