Bobbie's Bleeding Floss Tip

By Connie G. Barwick, About.com

Bobbie posted this tip in the About.com Cross Stitch Forum in response to a question about how to deal with floss that bleeds onto fabric. She writes:

I had this same problem once. What I did was to soak the piece in Biz for a full hour. I rinsed it thoroughly in cool water. The first attempt didn't work so I repeated the process and bingo-bango ... it all came out. Phew, I was very fortunate.

You can buy Biz in your local grocery store where they have the laundry detergents. It comes in a box.

What I did was run my water as hot as it would go to dissolve the granules. Then I let the water cool (after all granules were dissolved) before I placed my piece in the solution to soak. I used a regular size dish pan. I didn't measure the amount I used, but I didn't hesitate to use a lot! Just make sure to remove your work after one hour (tops) because if you leave it overnight or too long, the solution could ruin your fabric. I was using Aida fabric.
