CO_crosser's Quarter Stitch Tip

How to "Fake" Quarter Stitches on Perforated Paper and Vinyl Weave

By Connie G. Barwick, About.com

CO_crosser shares her tricks for faking out quarter stitches on certain stitching surfaces. She writes, "Quarter stitches are not possible on perforated paper and next to impossible on vinyl weave. There is, however, a way to get around this when the quarter stitches are at the end of a row. Some patterns will have you stitch a full cross stitch and then backstitch diagonally across the full stitch. If the full stitch seems too obvious or too bulky, I use a half stitch instead. Then I backstitch diagonally across the half stitch."
