Lareene's Floss Storage Solution

Use a Jewelry Box to Easily Store Floss

By , About.com Guide

Lareene submitted this tip about how she stores her floss. She writes:

"I have x-stitched for 20 years or more and tried a lot of ways to store my floss.

I wanted to buy the special wooden boxes they offer but $300 dollars was just to much. You know the one with 3 drawers and sits on your table.

So one year after Christmas I saw one of those large jewelry storage wooden items that holds rings, trays for your earrings, and bracelets. It was marked for $100 marked down to $40 dollars thinking how nice this would be for my jewelry the idea struck me how this would look next to my chair in the living room with all my floss wrapped on those little plastic card all in a row. I bought the numbers all printed on sticky paper to put on the plastic cards and proceed to wrap to my heart's content.

But, the real beauty of it all is how easy it is to get my colors out for a project and when I am on a break it is easy enough to put the project in the wooden jewelry cupboard with all the floss. I even have a tray with all my sparkly Kreinik threads which I just love putting in my granddaughters Cross Stitched designs.

The cupboard even has two side doors to hang up necklaces this I use to hang my tubes of Aida fabric which I had bought in plastic tubes. I now save these tubes to put back in more Aida or other fabrics and then hang them back in the special doors.

I hope everyone finds this tip to be useful. By the way, the jewelry cabinet is in the color to match my woodwork and looks just fine in the room."
