Judy's Tip about Preparing Fabric Before Stitching

By Connie G. Barwick, About.com

These tips come from Judy.

She says, "I just wanted to let you know that before I start to stitch, I fold my Aida both ways to find center and baste with a colorful thread vertically and horizontally across centre. I use a loose stitch every 4-6 Aida squares apart. This marks the center as I go. Then if I wish, I just remove the basting as I go, when done stitching enough that I don't need the guides anymore.

I also turn my Aida under a few rows and loosely baste this down all along the edges of my Aida to prevent fraying. It works great!"
