Angel of Cross Stitch

Design Name and Theme

The Angel of Cross Stitch is the project and it was designed by Joan Elliott as an anniversary piece for DMC to be worked using all of their 300+ colors. Several stitchers on the About Cross Stitch forum decided to do this design. One brave soul used the original chart with over 300 colors on black fabric and the others including myself decided to use a modified chart using a little over thirty colors. We all started in July of 2010. Being the one-track minded person that I am, I've finally finished it.

Tools and Techniques Used

The fabric is 14-ct Aida and DMC compatible threads. The face and hands were difficult because of the fractional stitches having to be worked with the Aida, there was quite a bit of scattered stitches where the thread had to be carried over blank spaces.

Advice

  • What I learned from this project... is that I am definitely a one project stitcher and don't plan any other BAP anytime soon. But I love my Angel.

Connie G. Barwick, About.com Cross-Stitch, says:

It's been so fun to watch this project from start to finish in the About.com Cross Stitch forum. Also, if you wonder what a BAP is, it's what we call a huge project - a Big A$$ Project - you get the drift ;)
