Describe Cross Stitch Project
I did this project for my father's 70th birthday. Unfortunately, because I live with my parents, I was unable to work on it openly and finish it on time. But I presented the 3/4th finished project to him on his birthday and he said he enjoyed watching me finish it. I then took it to my LNS (local needlecraft shop) to get it framed. My father defected from Hungary in the 1960s and I learned Hungarian after high school, so I signed the piece in Hungarian. It says "Stitched for my dear father's 70th birthday, July 2009." I finished and framed it while it was still 2009 so it counts, right? It is on 14 count Aida cloth with DMC threads. The LNC didn't have the exact shade of cloth the design calls for (I don't remember what I ended up with) but I used the colors called for in the pattern.
Tips and Tricks
- The color I used for the sun in the sunrise is too close to the Aida cloth, so it is hard to see in person. I would recommend to people to not be afraid to change colors and frog and re-do parts if you feel that a color isn't right.
