Super Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars Project

Pattern Name and Date Stitched

Shooting Stars Pattern - I stitched it the day before the Superbowl 2011.

Materials, Supplies, and Tools Used

I used a small piece of 28-count linen, DMC 310 embroidery floss (black - for the outlining) and Kreinix #8 Fine braid overdyed by Threadworx (#71062). Stitches used include satin stitch, back stitch, cross stitch, and Rhodes stitch. I used a small wooden hoop to hold my project and a size 24 tapestry needle.

Tips and Tricks

  • I choose the linen because I wanted to use satin stitch to fill in the shooting stars. I'd been wanting to try stitching with the Kreinik braid and it was sparkly, so it seemed a good fit for a shooting star project. It would also be great to use the braid in a project where couching is involved. I thought it might be rough to stitch with the braid, but it wasn't too hard on my fingers - the black floss felt really soft after stitching with it though!
