Chances are that we all have extra embroidery floss laying around that we don't plan to use in a stitching project. What are your ideas for other uses for it? Share Your Project Ideas

Weaving Bracelets

Tie a balloon knot in the floss, then keep twisting the floss tightly. It doesn't matter what direction. Cut off any excess string, then fold the string in half up to the knot you made at the beginning. The other way you can do it is the Chinese staircase method. Make a 4 shape then make a loop with the extra tip and then just pull and keep doing that until its long enough.

hair weave

I use it to make hair weaves. You can look it up on youtube or google how to do it, but it's just a bracelet in your hair. and it stays for a really long time(:

Great Ideas

I never throw the extra floss out. It will come in handy for some project. I mostly use it in jewelry. Your ideas go above and beyond. I absolutely love the little bird's nest!

leftover floss

I save any lengths of leftover floss. I use them in other cross stitch projects when I change the color suggested by the designer to a color I prefer.

I stitch patchwork designs, I stitch bookmarks. I also love to teach stitching to girlscout troops (each girl goes home with floss and material along with a small pattern and needle.

extra thread save it!!

i stitch butterflies, roses, strawberries anything small on 22 count. they come in handy when you need a little something for that person who just gave you a surprise. find small frames like for doll houses to frame, or magnets to go on the refrigerator. depending on the craft tore you can even find little easels so that little things can be put in little places. a bathroom sink has a little piece with a butterfly in a doll house frame and easel. by saving little bits you on need a little to stitch small things. i just finished a sample for a friend. had thread left over did a butterfly Christmon in shades of blue to go on my white tree. something as simple as that, yet it will remind of the sample i made for my friend.

Friendship Bracelets

My daughter uses embroidery thread to make friendship bracelets. She chooses colors to reflect how she feels about her friend and then weaves them together to make bracelets and anklets. She uses basic braiding techniques or even macrame braids.
